The overall goal is Christian formation, being transformed – over time and through God’s Spirit—into the image of Christ.
WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?
- Confirmation has been a Christian practice going back to the early church in the Book of Acts (Acts 8:14-17). Confirmation signifies the receiving of new members to the church, the receiving of the Holy Spirit, and the public confirming of one’s faith in Jesus Christ.
- Biblically, confirmation follows baptism; therefore, there will be an opportunity for any confirmands who have not yet been baptized to be baptized before Confirmation Sunday in May 2024. (All confirmands must be baptized in order to be confirmed on May 19, 2024.)
- Confirmation is a call to Christian discipleship. It is an opportunity through religious instructions for youths to consciously commit, embrace, and claim the name of CHRISTIAN as their own faith witness.
